2010 Premier’s Food Industry Awards

by Doc-G on June 1, 2010

As you will notice from my page banner I’ve been a winner and finalist in the South Australian Premier’s Food Awards.

Now known as the Premier’s Food Industry Awards – they are back for another year – bigger and better – and open to a lot more businesses.

No longer just for finished food businesses – entries are open to all food-related businesses including producers, growers, distributors, retailers, associations and service providers.

Entering the awards was a great experience and I’d encourage any food related businesses to enter. The application process was straight forward and professional. I objectively observed my business from a number of different angles and gained a better understanding of the way we do things and what makes our products unique within the marketplace.

There are a number of awards to choose from:

Visionary Leader (Young/Industry*)
Valuing Workforce Development
Creating Sustainability
Developing Markets (Domestic/International)
Fostering Value Chain
Growing Small Business*
Leading Innovation
Servicing Industry
Understanding Consumers*

*New this year

For those businesses needing a little help with the application process, Lee Welch, The Write Alternative (leewelch@ozemail.com.au) is offering a special rate as part of her support for the Awards. Lee can help prepare, edit, format and proof the application and Award winners who take up this offer can also take advantage of a special winner’s media package including writing, distribution and media liaison to spread the word about your success.

If you are reading this and know of a SA food-related business doing great things – like growing a small business; demonstrating visionary leadership, valuing their workforce; having a good understanding of their consumers or leading in innovation – encourage them to enter the awards.

Applications are open until 23 July 2010 with the winners being announced at the Awards presentation gala dinner on Friday 5 November 2010 – industry and foodies welcome.
